Raised in Massachusetts until high school and then in North Carolina, Sarah began her career in the field of international relations, living abroad in Tokyo, Japan after graduating from UNC-CH. Despite working in different fields, Sarah volunteered with various organizations while overseas, including those concerned with children’s welfare. After moving back to the U.S. and then to the District of Columbia, Sarah decided it was time for a career change. She began to pursue her masters in social work from Rutgers University through their distance learning program, completing her fieldwork in D.C. During this time, Sarah also began to volunteer with Playtime as a site captain at D.C. General. With D.C. General closing, Sarah joined the team as a Site Manager at Quality Inn. In her free time, Sarah studies languages including Japanese and Korean, is working toward her degree, and spends as much time outdoors as she can.
