Hilary Tone Forslund
From a young age, Hilary was struck by the imbalance of equity and opportunity in our society, particularly for low-income Black and Brown communities. Since finishing graduate school in 2009, she has sought to use her power and privilege to disrupt the systems that create those inequities through impactful communications for mission-driven organizations.
Hilary is Chief Marketing Officer at the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.). Previously, Hilary served as the Managing Director of Communications + Public Affairs at Flamboyan Foundation, a nonprofit in Washington, DC that supports public schools to create strong relationships between educators and families. A proud product of Southern California's public schools, she elevates Flamboyan’s profile and expands engagement with the organization by strengthening its local and national brand, broadening its visibility, and attracting partnerships to advance its strategic goals.
Prior to joining Flamboyan, Hilary led the Communications Team at the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and oversaw press, digital, strategic, and crisis communications for the broader school district and in support of its 116 schools. Before DCPS, she served as an editor and program director at Media Matters for America, and in communications roles advancing human rights at the Equal Rights Center in Washington, DC and Border Action Network in Tucson, Arizona.
Hilary holds a Master’s degree in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Spanish Studies from Santa Clara University. In her personal time, she is also a dancer and dance instructor specializing in tap. She lives in PG County with her husband, two children, and rescue cat. Connect with Hilary on LinkedIn.
